There are a lot of law schools in the United States but aspiring lawyers would be aiming to get into the best law schools in the country. Below are the top law schools in the US.

Yale University is the best place to study law not only in the US but around the world. They admit limited students with only a 6 percent admission per year so that the student to faculty ratio is law to ensure that they provide quality education. They have an admission rate of 6 percent every year.

Harvard Law School is also a top law school. It has a high admission percentage because it is bigger than the other top schools.

Stanford University in California is also a world class law school with a student teacher ratio of 8:1 with an acceptance rate of over 9 percent every year or above 4000 applicants (170 slots)

New York City’s pride, Columbia University prides itself in its history of academic excellence. They only offer 1,200 slots even if applicants would reach up to 8,500.

All these law schools have a set of standards although they would vary from every school; they commonly have the same subjective and objective requirements. These requirements usually include the following:

1.    Graduate of an undergraduate bachelor’s degree – this is a basic requirement. The school the applicant graduated from should be accredited. A transcript needs to be submitted for proof and for evaluation of his or her GPA.

2.    LSAT or Law School Admission Test – the score that an applicant earned is one thing that will determine if he or she be admitted to the school. Cut off scores may differ from one school to another.

3.    Recommendation letters and personal statement – this is for purposes of references about an applicant’s background and personality.
